Global warming has negative feedback systems. A warmer earth with more carbon dioxide means more plant growth. This reduces carbon dioxide and slows warming.

The problem is positive feedback systems. For example, melting of the tundra releases methane. This is a potent greenhouse gas, producing more warmth and more methane. In the worse case, the earth resembles Venus and life is not possible.
